Day 24

It is 11/30/19. Today I decided to start planning what I was going to put on my magazine cover (This will be may longest blog because I will be disscusing all the conventions). Some of the decision I had to make were what image I would be using for my cover image; after looking through the pictures that I wanted to use I decided that I wanted to use the female model for the cover image simply because she is more alluring in her photos than the male model, and this would fit in the mode of address for my magazine. I also had to look at my group members magazine in order for our magazine's conventions to match (some of the decisions for the fonts from the previous blogs have changed).
For my masthead I used a font called Anton, with a 77.4 font, and a dark red color. I chose this font because I saw a common theme of bold bubble letters in fashion magazines such as, Teen Vogue and GQ. I choose the color red because it matches my model's shirt, the red also helps the masthead stand out form the main article which is in bold letters as well.
For my sweet spot I used a circular element to show that the fashion topics have to due with trends in this year.  I decided to use a sweet spot because I saw that many magazines used them as a way to validate why you should take advice from the magazine and it shows why the magazine is relevant.I used Anton font again to keep the fonts consistent because it is very simplistic, but bold enough to stand out from the other headings.
For my slogan, I used Kollektif, with a size 26.7 font. I got inspiration from the Allure magazine's font for their slogan, the minimalist font did not match the other fonts which helped it stand out; hence why I used this font.
My mode of address was based of my model and her pose. I specifically had her look directly towards the camera in this shot so that the look in her eyes could be used to allure the audience. I chose this shot instead of my male models shot because she is more attractive and a woman is more commonly used for the cover page as well as the mode of address in magazines as seen in magazines like Allure, Teen Vogue, and InStyle.
My house style is the Anton font that I have used for most of my text because it is both minimalist and bold. I saw that using bold and minimalist fonts are very commonly used fonts in fashion magazine because it helps their magazines standout from other types of magazines; for example sports magazines tend to have bold outlined texts such as Sports Illustrated. I decided to use this bold font over other because the other fonts were to bold; most of the other fonts tended to be too bold, the bubble lettering they had did not fit the style of the cover image.
For my headline I used a font called Abril Fatfaced, with a 67.4 size in black. I decided to use this font instead of Anton because I wanted my main topic to standout completely from the other texts on my magazine so that my audience would have a general Idea of what my magazine edition would be focusing on. The black lettering helps the headline standout especially since the setting of the image is fairly bright, which helped make it easier for the text to standout.
For my cover lines I used Antonio Light, size 30.1 in white. I used Used this font as opposed to my main article and house style so that I could play around with the different texts that I had to choose from. Using a different font also help to set up the different articles that I would have in my table of contents. The white texts surprisingly stood out in the fairly white cover image that I chose; hence why I continued to use it for the rest of the cover lines (puffs).
I used the same font and color for my strap line as well. The strap line was slightly bigger, 30.7 in size, and I italicized it to show that it would be the main article that I would be writing about in my project. The reason I kept this font and color is because it completed what the main article would be discussing: "How to stay cool in the heat." The color works with the play on words of my headline, the dark text ( heat), and the strap line's light text ( heat).
I had a small banner because I wanted to use as much space as I could for my cover. However, I did leave some space so that the magazine word not look cramped.
For my anchorage I used Abril Fatface, size 67.4 in black. I purposely made the anchorage black so the text could stand out from the rest of the text and so it would match my models jeans. Throughout my magazine I purposely used the colors red, black, and white because those were the colors that my model's outfit had.
For my pugs I priced my magazine at $12.00. I looked at different magazines prices such as Hypebeast, GQ, Teen Vogue, and Allure to compare prices; I saw that the prices were less than $20.00 so my group and I settled for pricing my magazine.
The buzz words I used were "new" and "top 10"

Day 23

It is 11/29/19. It has been a few days since I had my photo shoot, but now that I have the pictures that I need for my magazine I can start editing them. For this process I used an app on my iPhone call VSCO, an online photo and video editing program. I used this program over the provide editing program implemented in my iPhone because it allows you to go into greater detail when editing pictures. For example, VSCO has an editing feature that allows you to adjust the skin tone of the picture; this was a feature that I found useful because the settings of my pictures were in bright areas, so I utilized this to adjust my models skin tone to their natural skin tone, and/or a skin tone that fit the lighting. I also found that VSCO made it easier to see the difference in the editing pictures. For example, when I was adjusting the sharpness you could see a clear difference in the amount of detail that the image portrays.

Day 22

It is 11/27/18. Today I did my second photo shoot. I met up with my model Reegan, at around eleven-thirty in the morning and we met up downtown at a Starbucks. From there we walked around  downtown Sarasota trying to find we sat down and planned what type of setting we wanted for our background. We decide that we wanted to keep the same type of setting for our photo shoot, which was a grimy setting in the background because it would compliment her two outfits. Luckily I ran into less problems with this photo shoot; however, I did run into problems with having the lighting of the shots because it was a sunny day, but i did figure out how to adjust the lighting on my camera and I knew that in the editing process I would be able to adjust the lighting to my preference. I wanted the lighting to be some what bright so that I could be to talk about how winter in Florida is different from other places in the U.S. in the way that our winters tend to be warmer then places where it snows like North Carolina or even places in other parts of the world where such as Paris. To my surpize I ended up taking a few shots with an environmental and artistic setting. While we were exploring the downtown area to find spots we came across a few places that worked with the colors of her outfits.

Day 21

It is 11/26/19. Today I made sure that everything was ready for the photo shoot to try to prevent some of the dilemmas that I faced in the last photo shoot. I began by charging my camera and making sure that I had a spare SD card in case I need to use it, and then I took some shots to make sure there was storage on my current SD card, as well as making sure that my pictures where able to be downloaded onto my computer. I then asked my teacher if I needed to have some taking pictures of me taking the shots, and they explained to me that it was no completely necessary, which solved my problem from the last photo shoot. I finished preparing by putting my camera to charge, making sure my model was still available for the shoot, and making sure that I was content with the outfits I choose.

Day 20

It is 11/25/19. Today I continued planning my photo shoot by deciding what type of clothes my model is going to wear. In this portions of the shoot, I decide to collaboratively work with my model on deciding what she would be wearing because a male and females perspective on clothing differs; however, I did not let her completely give her freedom of choice on what she was going to wear because my edition of the magazine focuses on Winter fashion. After looking meeting with my model we deiced to keep some of the same fundamentals garments that were in the last shoot in the new shoot, such as the jeans and sneakers. The garments that we changed were the tops and sneakers; we decided to use a long sleeve because it in Florida our winters are warmer, therefore there is no need to be wearing a puffy coat than most parts of the world. I choose a vintage style t-shirt because as of recently it has been popularized by celebrities, such as ASAP Rocky, Travis Scott, and Kylie Jenner. Although I decided to use sneakers in the shoot, I changed the style of sneaker that I wanted to use. I decided to use wheat sneakers, because wheat sneakers has been in style for many years and it is one of those pieces that will most likely never o out of style.

Day 19

Today is 11/24/19. Today I began planning my second photo shoot. This shoot will consist of a female model because my magazine covers teen fashion for both male and female. This time around I started by looking for my model first. I had less trouble with finding a female model then I did a male, probably because females tend to be more outgoing then males when it comes to fashion. The model I found was one of my peers, her name is Reegan. I choose her because she has experience with photo shoots from being crowned Miss Lakewood Ranch and Miss Manatee, and because her sense of style fits the street wear look that I am covering in my magazine.

Day 18

Today is 11/23/19. Today I did my photo shoot. I met up with my model, Mike, at around ten-thirty in the morning and we met up at a local coffee shop were we sat down and planned what type of setting we wanted for our background. We decide that we wanted to have a shot with a grimy setting in the background because it would compliment the street wear look that we were going for. Right off the bat we had problems with one of my group members who could not come to the photo shoot to record me taking the pictures; they also had the extra SD card which luckily we did not end up needing for the first photo shoot. Another problem that I had was trying to find the right angels for my shot. I had to learn to adjust my shot accordingly to my models height. I also had trouble while taking some of my pictures, because they were located on private property so we were asked to leave the premises. At the end of the shoot their were a total of twenty-three pictures, and all of the shots were taken strictly by myself.
